Privacy First

ChoreBank is built with privacy as a core principle. We believe your family's chore and allowance data should remain private and belong only to you.

Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number
We do not track your location
We do not use analytics or tracking tools
We do not sell or share your data with third parties
We do not use advertising networks

Authentication

ChoreBank uses Sign in with Apple for secure authentication. Your Apple ID is used only to:

Identify you within the app
Enable you to access your family's data across devices
Ensure only authorized family members can access your family's information

We do not have access to your Apple ID credentials. Apple handles all authentication securely.

Data Storage

All family data (chores, completions, payouts, and family member information) is stored securely in Firebase, Google's cloud database service. This data is:

Encrypted in transit and at rest
Only accessible to members of your family (enforced by security rules)
Not shared with ChoreBank developers or any third parties
Subject to Firebase's security and privacy standards

What Data is Stored

Within your family group, the following data is stored:

Family Information: Family name, payout schedule, invite codes
Member Information: Display names, roles (parent/kid), avatar emojis
Chores: Chore titles, values, recurrence patterns, assignments
Completions: Chore completion records, approval status, optional photos
Payouts: Weekly allowance records, payment status

Data Access

Only members of your family can access your family's data. Our security rules ensure that:

Parents can view and manage all family data
Kids can view family data and manage their own chore completions
No one outside your family can access your data

Data Deletion

You can delete your family's data at any time by:

Removing family members (with option to keep or delete their history)
Deleting your entire family (removes all associated data)
Uninstalling the app (your data remains in Firebase unless explicitly deleted)

If you want to permanently delete all your data, use the "Delete Family" option in Family Settings before uninstalling the app.

Children's Privacy

ChoreBank is designed for families with children. We comply with children's privacy laws:

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children
Children can only join families created by parents
All data is managed by the parent account holder

Third-Party Services

ChoreBank uses the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google): Cloud database and authentication

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
